A facilitated discussion about spirituality and sexuality in today's church.

The Great Lesbian Debate
Lescaze Room, 33rd Floor
Facilitators: Trina Dorman and Yvette Lassiter, MSW
A penny for your thoughts: A guided discussion on all issues which impact lesbian, bisexual and questioning women. This is a returning favorite!!! This guided discussion will provide an opportunity to address a variety of topics including but not limited to sexuality, role playing, politics, relationships, etc… No subject is off limits. Questions will be submitted anonymously by workshop participants upon entry. Each question will be written on a 3 by 5 index card and folded in half. Cards will be picked randomly by the co-facilitators and read to the group at large. Each participant  is allotted two minutes to address the question or pass. The facilitators will assure the process is timely and the environment creates an opportunity for openness and safety.
Participants will be able to:

  • Articulate and exchange opinions about key issues impacting women.
  • Identify diverse points of view.
  • Dispel myths and clarify information in a non-threatening environment.

Rebuilding self-esteem by challenging our beliefs. An open, challenging and in depth conversation about our beliefs and concepts in effort to promote and nurture self discovery and self love.

 “Are You Real?” Ballroom culture and discussion.
Lescaze Room, 33rd Floor

Present day ballroom icons present on ballroom history, terminology and imaging. This important and relevant LGBT cultural phenomenon will be investigated through discussion in this interactive workshop.  Not only will this panel, filled with legends and up and coming stars, spur discussion, but DVD footage will also educate and entertain.
 
All are welcome. Not only will we highlight the cultures’ history, but we’ll also discuss the positive and negative images and messages present in the scene.  This workshop will cover the Ballroom milieu and personalities but particular interest will be paid toward educating attendees on the formation of the new “Women’s Ballroom Scene” where Transmen, Lesbian Butches and Femmes regularly compete for classic ballroom titles such as face, realness, models runway and sex siren and vogue. This NEW workshop is not to be missed.
