welcome to black gay pride 2008

“We Did The Damn Thing With Pride in 2008”

The ninth annual Philadelphia Black Gay Pride (PBGP) celebration was true to this year’s theme Live, Laugh and Love with Pride. This year, we crowned our first Miss Philadelphia Black Gay Pride, we supported and encouraged the musical diversity of LGBTQ artists at the first annual Sing OUT Strong competition, Our Opening Reception, co-sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign and supported by our mayor, the Honorable Michael Nutter was a fun filled night. We honored the Icons of our community at the Legends Ball, we praised and gave thanks at our InterFaith Brunch and we all expressed our farewells to the incredible vibes produced by Vivian Green in live performance at our “It’s A Wrap” Finale.

For the past nine years, PBGP has strived to provide excellence in programs, events and activities for our community to empower, educate and entertain. This year we surpassed everyone’s expectations and if I must say…”We Did The Damn Thing”.

One of the most important components of this year’s Pride was a team of committed individuals who selflessly gave of their time, resources and talents. They worked tirelessly to produce this year’s week long celebration infused with the beauty and Pride of the African American LGBTQ community and made us all proud to Live, to Laugh and to Love with Pride…
